New Porsche Cayenne review: It could save you money!

Porsche’s flagship SUV has had a mid-life facelift, and Mat’s about to see just what’s changed compared to the previous edition, while also seeing if it can compete with market leaders such as the BMW X5. When it comes to the design, it’s not overly different to the previous generation, given it’s only a mid-life facelift. Around the back, you’ll find a thinner full-length light bar, along with some updated exhaust designs. Alloy wheels now start at 20 inches instead of 19, rising up to 22 inches. But step around the front and this is where the biggest design changes can be found. There’s an all-new bonnet with creases sweeping along the front, along with an all-new bumper and grille, flanked by thinner Matrix LED headlights. All things considered, it looks pretty smart! Step inside and the traditional Porsche quality is clear to see. There’s leather throughout the cabin (although this car does have the extended leather package added!), and everything feels well-built and sturdy. There’s a fully redesigned centre console, and thankfully Porsche has retained the physical climate control buttons. There’s a fully redesigned digital dial display, and a large infotainment screen which is pretty easy to use. This edition also comes with a third screen for the front seat passenger built into the dash! There are a load of engine choices available. If you’re keeping it petrol-only, you can pick up the Cayenne S with either a 3-litre V6 with 353hp or a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 474hp. If you want a plug-in hybrid, two options come with the 3-litre V6 and an electric motor to deliver 470hp or 519hp. The range-topper is the Cayenne Turbo, which combined the 4-litre V8 with an electric motor to put down 739hp. There’s only a slight issue though - it’s not cheap! The entry-level Cayenne starts at around £70,000, easily rising to over £100,000 for the range-topper with a couple of options added! So is it worth it? Stick with Mat and see for yourself! FIRST LOOK: 2024 Porsche Macan – Best-Selling Porsche Goes Electric
This is the new Porsche Macan, and it is now an electric car. Which is a punchy move by Porsche. When the Cayenne and Macan SUVs are your bread and butter models globally (with the Macan being Porsche’s best-selling model in the UK), going full EV early feels… bold. There will be two initial models – the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo – both of which will be on Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric – which is incidentally the first time Porsche has electrified an existing model), both with dual-motors and all-wheel drive, and both get the same 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is useable. Range is slated at 380 miles for the less powerful Macan 4, 367 miles for the faster Turbo, so you’ll be looking at high 200s in the real-world. Which is all very nice. But it wouldn’t be a Porsche if it were slow or cumbersome, so Porsche hasn’t skimped. The Macan 4 puts out just over 400bhp at max and hits 62mph in 5.1 seconds with a 137mph top speed. The Turbo is capable of 635bhp with launch control, can hit 62mph from rest in just 3.3 seconds and run on to a 162mph max. Currently, a basic Porsche Macan with a 263bhp turbo petrol 4-cyl engine costs £53,400. The most expensive six-cylinder Macan GTS weighs in at £71,700. That’s good value. But, inevitably, the electric version will set you back more – it’s priced at £69,800 for the Macan 4 and £95,000 for the Macan Turbo. New BMW 5 Series v E-Class v A6: Which is best?
Compare the best new & used car deals with Carwow: https://bit.ly/New-Car-Deals-1902 When it comes to choosing a new posh, mid-range saloon, it doesn’t get any better than these three - the New BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes E-Class, and the Audi A6. The question is if you want to get your hands on one, which should you choose? Well, Mat’s on hand to put all three cars through a series of rigorous tests to find out which one comes out on top! So let’s take a closer look at the three. First up we have the New BMW 5 Series. It’s unmistakably a BMW from the exterior, although we’re still not sure about the load of straight edges and creases across the front and rear. Thankfully it’s not followed the route of the 3 Series and added the huge kidney grille design! Step inside and the cabin is full of soft-touch materials along with a huge infotainment and digital dial screen. When it comes to performance, the car we have is the 520i. It comes with a 2-litre turbo petrol engine that sends power to the rear wheels only, and it puts down 208hp. It comes with a price tag of around £64,000. Then we have the E-Class. It’s probably the most stylish, luxurious-looking car from the outside. There are even some trim options available to make it look like the S-Class! The interior is also easily the most luxurious of the three cars. There are soft-touch materials everywhere, and even the opportunity to have three screens in the front! The seats are also super comfortable. The car we have here is the E300e, which comes with a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and it’s also a plug-in hybrid, so it comes with a small electric motor too. It can put down 313hp and this edition costs £77,000. Then we have the A6. It had a small facelift last year, but it’s still been around for absolutely ages! It still looks pretty smart on the outside, although we would rather choose one of the other two instead. The interior is nice, with soft-touch materials throughout, but it’s easily the most basic of the three cars here. Then again, given the age it’s also the cheapest, so it’s not too bad a deal. The car we have here also comes equipped with a 2-litre turbocharged engine along with an electric motor, so it can put down 299hp. It’s also the only car here that comes with all-wheel drive! The specific model we have is the 50 TSIe Quattro in S-line trim, and it costs around £66,000. So will the newer BMW come out on top? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself! FIRST DRIVE: Lucid Gravity – 1,000bhp Tesla Model X Rival
You'll know Lucid from its ultra-spacious, slippery Air saloon, which can hit 60 in 1.9 seconds and is very probably the best-handling electric family car on sale today. 10 out of 10, no notes. So, how does the new Gravity SUV – Lucid's difficult second album – stack up? Well, it's a little early for a full drive (stick around for a drive of the prototype later in the video) but here's what we do know. It'll use the next generation of Lucid tiny-but mighty bespoke motors. There’s a 900-volt architecture for fast charging speeds, and it'll be able to accelerate to 60mph in less than 3.5sec in the quicker versions. Base models will start from $74k, with 'around 800bhp.'
