TOYOTA HAS GIVEN THE BZ4X 338BHP AND 356 MILES OF RANGE
Toyota’s mass electric car shake-up continues with the bZ4X, which has been given more power and range with its first major update since its 2022 launch. Should strike fear into the face of printers, er, we mean mid-sized SUVs, everywhere.
Chief among the changes is a revised battery lineup of 57.7 or 73.1kWh, where its predecessor had a sole 71.4kWh pack. The maximum range has also jumped from 317 to 356 miles, with battery pre-conditioning now programmed in and a DC charging speed of 150kW quoted. You’ll find a 22kW cable under the slain printer corpses in the boot too.
It’s a similar story with the power, which jumps from a measly 214bhp to a rather more meaty 338bhp. That’s identical to the equally new CH-R+, which pegs them level as the most potent non-GR-bred products in the Toyota range.
Along with all the mechanical changes, Toyota’s also given the bZ4X a noticeable facelift. The front is sleeker, with redesigned headlights connected by a light bar. You’ll also spot a thinner grille down there and extra fog lights on either side. The robust-looking cladding is more glossy too.
A new 14in multimedia screen comes as standard across the lineup, sitting inside a cabin featuring a revised instrument cluster and fresh buttons, which make for a generally neater-looking work environment.
Expect the new bZ4X to lay waste to the nation's printer reserves later this summer.
