PORSCHE HAS CONFIRMED AN ELECTRIC CAYENNE IS ON THE WAY

It was inevitable, folks: Porsche has finally confirmed the fourth-generation Cayenne will be going all-electric, sitting atop its Premium Platform Electric (PPE) 800-volt architecture. Rumoured weight? More than most mountains.

Though further details remain thin for now, we’re expecting it to punch well above the electric Macan’s 630bhp and 479lb ft, given that it too uses the same PPE platform.

Dual motors and all-wheel drive should also form part of the new Cayenne’s traits, while the platform currently allows for a peak of 270kW charging. Coffee breaks should be just as quick as this thing could be on the road then, we’d imagine.

The camo shots also preview some of the cosmetics we could see make it to production, including what appear to be large vertical exits on either side of the rear bumper, 911 hybrid-like active air vents at the front and a revision to the light signatures. Looks bulky, innit?

Be that as it may, we’re not expecting the interior to see a huge amount of change from the current version, since a major revamp only just happened last year.

Porsche is yet to announce just when the electrified Cayenne will reach shelves, but it has confirmed that it’ll continue to sell the ICE/hybrid versions of the current third-gen alongside it.
