BIZARRE MOMENT AUDI DRIVER PARKS ON A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING SO HE CAN GO SHOPPING IN NEARBY TESCO

  •  Video footage shows the car blocking a pedestrian crossing and bike lane
  •  A  man is seen walking nonchalantly towards the car with a drink in his hand
  •  Another car appears to make a u-turn in a one-way road before both head off

This is the bizarre moment a driver blocked cyclists and pedestrians on a busy city centre high street - so they could go shopping at Tesco.

The grey Audi was spotted by residents on Sunday after they realised the car had been in that position for a while.

The short clip shows the Audi parked sideways on the road covering up a pedestrian crossing and bike lane.

A few seconds later, a man is seen walking nonchalantly towards the car in Manchester city centre with what looks like a drink in his hand.

As he enters the vehicle, the man gestures to a blue car which is a few feet away. After the gesture, the blue car appears to make a u-turn in what is a one-way road, driving the wrong way before the pair make off in the same direction.

The video was taken by a local resident who says there has been some confusion on that part of the city centre following the instalment of a bus gate, which means that a section of the road is only open to buses, black cabs and pedal cycles.

One resident said a lot of people now drive down Deansgate, spot the sign and then turn around or reverse back out.

'So we thought that's what he was doing at first and then kind of noticed he's not actually moving,' the resident, who asked not to be named, told the Manchester Evening News.

'And then two lads got out of the car and went into Tesco, and that's when I started taking the video. There was another car that had driven up Deansgate and halfway through the video clip you see him coming back the other way, it's just one-way now.

'We see a lot of people either not see or ignore the bus gate sign, but you see a lot of people who get to them and then spot them.

'This video is a quite an extreme case because you can see he's blocking pedestrians and cyclists.'
