On Sunday afternoon, Italian chef Gino D'Acampo broke the news to his Instagram followers he's decided to quit popular ITV show, Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip. In a short video message, Gino explained his reasonings for leaving, which mainly consisted of contractual problems.

Since 2018, Gino D'Acampo, Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix have embarked on a hilarious journey around the world exploring local culture and cuisine.

Along with the regular programme, fans of the show were treated to three Christmas specials, but now the future of the popular show is up in the air after Gino quit.

The 46-year-old broke the news on social media where he explained he valued the friendship with Gordon and Fred more than arguments that started to arise over contract differences.

In a short video message, Gino explained he was telling his fans directly as he didn't want the real reason to be misconstrued in any way.

He said: "Last week, I decided not to film any more Gordon, Gino and Fred Road trips.

"The reason is simple, I mean nothing to do with Gordon or Fred, the friendship is very strong, we have known each other for many years.

"It's just because we can't get the dates together and sometimes when we do get the dates together sometimes they get changed and it causes a lot of problems for me because I have other stuff that I have to do."

Gino added the swap in filming dates can also cause issues for him personally as it would result in him having to change plans with his family.

He continued: "Also, because contracts, contracts start to become very complicated then it becomes very stressful.

"I personally value the friendship with Gordon and Fred so much that I would rather the friendship than arguments with the contract."

Confirming these were the reasons he had decided to quit, he told his followers he wants to remain friends with Gordan and Fred for many years.

Highlighting he was aware many people were fans of the show, he thanked viewers for watching throughout the years.

He ended the message by saying all good things must come to an end.

Although it's not all bad news for fans of the ITV show as the broadcaster told The Sun there is a brand new series expected to air later this year.

After Gino's announcement, fans quickly commented on the video praising the star for putting his friends first.

Kevin_conn_ said: "Friendship is more important well said. Everybody will miss the show so much but will understand your decision also and wish you all the best for your future."

Caroline.fenwick added: "Well said Gino friendships are a special thing but we will miss the things use got up to and thank you for the belly laughs."
