Why racecars are brutal on long road trips

This video follows a difficult cross country drive from Nashville to Oklahoma City in a Caterham racecar that was never built for normal long distance travel. The car has no proper roof no air conditioning no brake booster no ABS and no power steering which makes the trip uncomfortable from the start. Heavy rain turns the open cabin into a wet mess before extreme heat reaches around 120°F and makes the drive even harder. The team tries a risky cool suit wiring fix while moving then the clutch begins to fail because heat from the exhaust causes the fluid to boil. A roadside repair with basic tools and a straw keeps the journey alive. The video shows why a racecar can feel exciting for short hard driving but becomes stressful painful and unpredictable during a full day on the road.

Toyota GR Yaris a rally car you can drive every day

The Toyota GR Yaris is far more than a performance version of the regular Yaris. Developed with direct influence from Toyota’s rally program, it delivers an authentic motorsport-inspired driving experience rarely found in modern cars. Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine producing 285 horsepower and paired with a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system developed by Gazoo Racing, the GR Yaris combines explosive acceleration with exceptional grip and agility. Its lightweight construction, aggressive suspension setup, and high-performance tires make every road feel like a special stage. However, this focus on performance comes with compromises. The ride is firm, the cabin is noisy, fuel consumption is high, and practicality takes a back seat. Yet these compromises are exactly what make the GR Yaris special. It is a car built for enthusiasts who value driving excitement above comfort, offering a raw and engaging experience that has become increasingly rare in today’s automotive world.

How fast can supercars actually shift McLaren 720S?

How fast do supercars actually shift? I've seen estimates ranging from 8 milliseconds to 150 milliseconds, and anywhere in that region is seriously fast. To find out if the estimates are true, I sat inside a McLaren 720S and used a data logger to find the shift speed. As an example, I spent some time measuring the shift speed in my manual transmission Honda S2000, and generally was shifting in about 250-300 milliseconds (0.25-0.30 seconds).
