NEW TESLA MODEL 3 PERFORMANCE HAS ARRIVED: HERE'S WHEN YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON THE FASTEST VERSION OF BRITAIN'S BEST-SELLING ELECTRIC SALOON

The new Tesla Model 3 Performance has just been revealed - and it comes with supercar-rivalling performance and a distinctive interior look.

The Performance variant of Tesla's extremely popular electric saloon delivers some powerful driving stats. This includes acceleration from 0 to 60mph in 2.9 seconds, a top speed of 163mph and 460 horsepower.

It's available to order from today (Wednesday 24 April) with prices starting at £59,990 - and UK deliveries set to arrive this summer.

The Performance variant follows on from the recently updated Model 3 - it had a facelift in 2023 - joining the Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range models to complete Model 3 offerings.

It'll use a 75kWh battery, and range is estimated to be 328 miles - this is 10 more miles than the Rear-Wheel Drive version, but 62 miles less than the Long Range version.

The Model 3 Performance has lower energy consumption than the previous (2022) Model 3 Performance and a more aerodynamic exterior design.

The latter is said to have helped shave 0.2 seconds off the outgoing Performance's 0-to60mph acceleration time.

The 'new generation performance drive unit' also has a specially-tuned bespoke chassis and track-ready brakes with high-performance brake pads.

The Performance comes with Tesla's latest 'Track Mode V3', which integrates adaptive suspension controls and the performance-optimised powertrain under one system.

A number of tweaking options means you can go full Lewis Hamilton and  customise everything from handling balance, stability control and regenerative braking.

The exterior receives the same updates as the rest of the Model 3 range with a new aggressive front and rear fascia, cooling ducts, rear diffuser and carbon-fibre spoiler.

Inside, customers get a Model 3 interior first.

New heated and ventilated 'Sports Seats' with enhanced side cushions and bolsters (to improve support when cornering) and carbon-fibre trim detailing are debuting on this latest Tesla and will likely prove popular among the Teslarati fanbase.

It also gets the 14.3-inch Tesla touchscreen infotainment system that comes with inbuilt sat-nav, charging info, music, games and Spotify.

At £59,000, it's a steep mark-up on the other Model 3s on sale in Britain.

It's £20,000 more than the entry-level model and £10,000 pricier than the Long Range mid-level trim.

Order books are open with deliveries expected in by the end of June.
