Tesla Model 3 v BYD Seal: DRAG RACE
Who’s ready for an EV drag race?! We’ve got our hands on the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, and it’s facing off against one of the newest small electric cars around - the BYD Seal! So let’s see whether this all-new Chinese EV can take down the Tesla. Under the skin, you’ll find two electric motors that provide 530hp and 670Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 2,055kg. If you were looking to pick one up, it’d set you back around £48,000. Then we come to the Tesla. It also comes with dual electric motors, and these should provide you with 490hp and 490Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it’s a fair bit lighter than the BYD, weighing in at 1,840kg. It’s slightly more expensive, though, costing around £50,000. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 630hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is set to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,067kg. If you want to pick one up, it’ll set you back around £133,000. Then we have the BMW M8. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this can put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,074kg. It’s slightly more expensive than the RS7, with a price tag of £138,000. Finally, we have the AMG. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 639hp and 900Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,045kg.
