CALLING ALL SIM RACERS: PAGANI WILL NOW SELL YOU A HUAYRA R-THEMED RIG
Want to experience the thrill of a Pagani Huayra R without owning an actual Pagani Huayra R? Well, we have good news! Pagani is now launching a customer version of its Huayra R simulation rig, to serve as the wealthy alternative to our combination of a Thrustmaster steering wheel, a copy of Gran Turismo 7 and a coffee table passed down through generations.
The simulator helps to prepare owners for their extreme, track-only hypercar for real. It’s been built in collaboration with Racing Unleashed, which is famed for building some of the more exclusive simulators on the market.
The creation process took over a year and the final product blends elements of the Huayra R’s interior with Racing Unleashed’s software aided by the interface from Assetto Corsa Pro. That means the rig’s chassis is built from carbon fibre, while the belts, pedals, seat and steering wheel are identical to the ones seen on the real car.
You even get specially crafted aluminium components across the audio and VR systems, while similar air vents to those seen in actual Pagani hypercars, used to release brake and engine heat, have also been added to the simulator’s base to help its own cooling. That’s one seriously cool party trick our coffee table can’t quite match.
Aside from the design, Pagani says the driving dynamics and aerodynamic effects mimicked by the simulator have been tested and approved by professional drivers, and even provide users with identical pitch, roll and yaw motions thanks to the accurate recreation of the acceleration and braking feedback.
A 5.1 audio system has also been incorporated at the base of the curved gaming display and recreates the vicious howl of the R’s 900bhp V12.
“We aimed to create a professional, dynamic driving simulator with an extraordinary level of immersion and realism, intending to contribute to the constant refinement of our customers' driving styles," said Franco Morsino, vehicle dynamics lead at Pagani.
“Our ambition was to transform it into a genuine design object, a product with artistic value destined to occupy a prominent place within the homes of Huayra R owners. For this reason, we dedicated extreme attention to creating a product that reflects our cars' extraordinary uniqueness.”
No mention of pricing yet, but expect it to cost a significant amount more than the setups most of us have at home. It shouldn't set you back quite as much as a real Huayra R, though, what with that costing around *two and a half million pounds*.
